Gopalganj Sadar Upazila has a glorious history in the field of art and culture. The "Agitated Artists' Society" of Gopalganj played a significant role in the Great Liberation War. Mr. Anil Biswas, Barun Sarkar, Ibne Saeed, Shivshankar Adhikari, Prafulla Biswas, Biren Saha and others tried to convey the message of liberation through music during the Liberation War. At present, Gopalganj Shilpakala Academy is playing a special role in the spread of art and culture in this region. Notable artist groups here are Tribeni Gana Sangstri Sangstri Sangstri, Madhumoti Palli Baul Shilpi Goshti, Udichi Shilpi Goshti, Joybangla Sangstri Sangstri Jote, Sursandhan Shilpi Goshti, Chandrima Shilpi Goshti etc. At present, artists of Gopalganj participate in various local festivals including national days.
